Dr. Eric Maisel calls this stage shy-mind anxiety. You know, that all-too-familiar fear of exposing your work to judgment, rejection, or worse: Deafening silence in the form of crickets online or an unenthusiastic response from followers.

That’s vulnerable.

Why Sharing Matters

Here’s the brain reframe: Showing your work isn’t about proving its worth.

1. Pick your audience. Choose one safe space to share: A friend, a group, or your online community. You are always welcome to share in the Creative Enabler chat, by the way!

2. Set your frame. Tell them what kind of feedback (if any) you want: encouragement, suggestions, or simply witness.

3. Release the work. Send it, post it, or share it live. Don’t overthink. Hit send.

You’ve shown up.

You’ve worked through resistance.

You’ve stayed inside the chaos long enough to build something real.

Now comes one of the trickiest moments in the creative process: Knowing when to call it done.

Perfectionism has a way of stretching projects out forever.

We percolate. We revise. We convince ourselves one more edit will make it flawless.

But perfection is a moving target. The closer you get, the further it shifts.

But! The reality is that work trapped in your drafts folder doesn’t get to fulfill its purpose.

Done is what makes it real.

   Say it out loud: “This is done. It’s allowed to be done.”

Celebrate that. Because most people never get here.

Reconnecting with your project when the honeymoon phase is over

You’ve been showing up.

You’ve stayed in the work.

Every creative project has a honeymoon phase.

Week 1: Saying Yes to the Creative Wish

Every creative journey begins with a whisper.

Not a shout. Not a fully formed plan. Just a quiet nudge inside that says:
“I want to make something.”

This is where “Fearless Creating” begins: Not with action, but with wishing.

This week, we begin not with a brushstroke or a paragraph, but with a question.

One that may be quiet, but carries tremendous power:

We don’t ask this nearly enough.

Life gets loud. Work piles up. Perfectionism creeps in.

And slowly, that soft creative whisper inside us fades.

This week, we make space for it again. We hush the noise. We listen deeply. And we allow ourselves to want.

Not “want” in the marketing sense. Not “What should I do next?”

But the real, soul-level desire to make something that matters to you.

This is the Wishing stage of the creative process. It’s tender, personal, and necessary.

It’s about more than just choosing a creative project.

It’s about giving yourself permission to want. To long. To imagine something new. To say yes.

In this stage, we don’t need to make, build, or perform.

We just need to listen - gently, curiously - to what calls us.

Write it down. Let it be messy. Let it be bold. Let it be yours.

Allow yourself to write freely without judgment to uncover your deeper creative longings and plant the first seed for your creative project.

You may be surprised by what you hear when you truly ask.
